SPCC
Super Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (SPCC)
Based upon the PNP’s novel process, the manufacturing of a specific amount of PCC can be accomplished in a vessel that is 0.5x to 0.33x the size of currently used systems. This, in turn, reduces the building size and the land requirement in order to place a mini-Super PCC plant. Additionally, many stationary sources that are currently not economically viable can be utilized, such as oil and coal power generation units as well as power boilers.
These Super PCC manufacturing process requires a compressor to push CO2 containing gas into the system. However, since the reaction rate and utilization are over 200% and 1.3x better, the overall energy consumption is only marginally higher.
These manufacturing plants are capable of manufacturing a variety of other carbonate products. These products include magnesium carbonates, sodium carbonates and lithium carbonates. The ability of this process to manufacture all these different carbonate products makes it very versatile in the manufacture of multiple product lines and able to switch product demands as needed.
The smaller footprint plants can be strategically located on customer sites with stationary CO2 emission sources such as power boilers, lime kilns, etc. or close to them. The ability of this technology to manufacture multiple different carbonate products for many different industries, including flue gas desulfurization, phosphate-free fertilizers, and multiple other industries.
The following figure shows several Super PCC products that can be manufactured using this process.
